Attention BDO Unibank customers: a new phishing website has been discovered that’s imitating the bank’s login portal. The attackers are using clever tactics to bypass spam detection and trick users into sharing their personal information. According to DomainTools Whois, the domain was created on March 7, 2023.
If you receive a text message telling you to update your bank account, DO NOT click on any links in the message. Be wary of unsolicited messages or emails asking for personal information, and never share your login credentials or other sensitive data with anyone.
It’s especially concerning that these phishing attackers are now using legitimate SMS service providers, like IQOR, to avoid being detected by telecommunications companies. This allows them to bypass spam filters and target more potential victims. What’s more, to make users think that the site is safe, the phishing site is hosted on 구름 (Goorm), a Korean cloud service company.
To stay safe online, make sure to keep your antivirus software up to date, use strong, unique passwords for each of your accounts, and always be cautious when clicking on links or sharing personal information online. By taking these steps, you can help protect yourself from falling victim to phishing scams and other online threats.
