After 27 years, Microsoft will discontinue Internet Explorer

After being included as the primary operating system for the Microsoft Windows operating system for 27 years, Microsoft has decided to phase down Internet Explorer (aka IE).
Microsoft announced last year that the popular bowser would be phased out on June 15, 2022. The software giant took the decision to migrate its uses to their new Microsoft Edge browser, a chromium-based browser that is "faster, more secure, and more modern."
According to StatCounter.com, Internet Explorer accounts for 0.64 percent of the global browser market share and 4.54 percent of the Philippine browse market share.
Impact of IE’s End-of-life phase
While Microsoft will not longer provide support and updates to the browser, it has indicated that Internet Explorer-based websites and web apps will still un with the new Microsoft Edge until at least 2029. Microsoft Edge’s “IE Mode” functionality still supports Internet Explorer-based sites.
The End-of-Life phase of Internet Explorer will have a significant impact on legacy systems such as banking and healthcare.
“Companies who have not proactively been updating their software will face difficult financial decisions. They’ll either have to pay a huge premium to get legacy developers to update these systems, or they’ll have to invest a huge premium in time and money to rebuild these systems.” according to Corey Butler on Quora.
Chrome has exceeded Internet Explorer’s market share on the Windows platform and has been the preferred browser for modern users since its launch in September 2008.
